Saunders ISAA President dixie@vbcoia.org The mission of the Iowa State Association of Assessors is to provide fair and equitable assessments as the basis for funding local governments and services. The members of the Iowa State Association work together to achieve and maintain a high level of performance in property assessment administration through professionalism, education and communication. We strive to promote the public good by ensuring equitable assessments and promoting public understanding of the property assessment process in Iowa. In conjunction with the Iowa Department of Revenue, the assessors of Iowa pursue educational opportunities and work to enhance the quality and uniformity of assessments in Iowa. We created this site to serve as an educational tool to promote better understanding of the appraisal process. Contained within, you will find duties of the assessor, responsibilities of the office, credits and exemptions, frequently asked questions, useful links and contact information for each of the seven city and 99 county assessors. This site also provides assessment professionals with communication tools to share information, keep up with changes in construction methods and the real estate market, and to further develop standards and procedures to attain our association’s vision.
